Serie A side Roma have been pushing to sign Marseille’s Mason Greenwood but so far, no major progress has been made. Now, signs of progress are now finally emerging from the Italian capital.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Englishman has a ‘silent pact’ with Gian Piero Gasperini over a transfer. The deal is edging closer, with the player keen on the deal.
Ideally, Roma would want him in the squad before their training camp. As time runs out, they are ready to offer €45 million to sign the attacker. They are ironing out the final details before presenting the offer formally to Marseille.
In the meantime, Greenwood has returned to training for the French club but he has already agreed personal terms with Roma. He has been handed a key role in the project too. Marseille’s demand currently stands at €50 million, which is the only hold-up in a possible deal.
The amount on offer from Roma is usually enough for them and they usually don’t pay as much for transfers. But they need one final push and this can come when the Giallorossi make a sale. This will unlock finances that can be used to rope in the ex-Manchester United player.
