Roma are reportedly set to face a financial sanction from UEFA in 2025 for failing to fully meet Financial Fair Play (FFP) parameters, but the club remain confident of aligning with the governing body’s regulations by 2026. This comes according to Calciomercato, who detail how Roma are operating under a special UEFA clause that grants them an additional year to reach full compliance.
The clause — known as the “clausola UEFA” — gives Roma more flexibility to stabilise their financial accounts without facing immediate severe penalties such as squad registration limits or transfer restrictions. However, the Giallorossi are still expected to receive a fine next year as part of UEFA’s monitoring process.
As Calciomercato report, the club’s current spending levels have exceeded the desired thresholds, largely due to wage commitments and transfer amortisation. Roma’s management are now focused on cost control, balancing their books through selective player sales and a more sustainable wage structure.
The goal is to meet the Squad Cost Ratio requirements by 2026 and avoid harsher sanctions, with the club working closely with UEFA to ensure full compliance within the extended timeframe.
