Roma surrender Summerville to Al-Hilal and massive €80m package | OneFootball

Roma have abandoned Crysencio Summerville after Al-Hilal almost doubled their offer to West Ham United at €80m, and tripled the salary to the player.

The Giallorossi had been ready to finish off the details of the transfer today at just under €50m including add-ons, with a contract worth €4m per season.

However, suddenly Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal dived in with a huge proposal, blowing them out of the water both for the fee and the personal terms.

According to The Athletic, the package is worth €80m (£68.23m) and a medical is being scheduled with the Saudi Pro League club.

He is also preparing to sign the contract, which Italian sources have at anywhere from €12m to €15m per season, depending on bonuses.

Roma knew they could not compete with these figures, so hoped that the chance to play in the Champions League would convince Summerville to accept them instead.

However, the cash proved too tempting for the Netherlands international, who had a good World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, providing two goals and two assists.

Al-Hilal’s interest had first been reported by Sacha Tavolieri on July 14, and he puts the price at €60m plus €5m add-ons.

Roma set condition for West Ham deal in first meeting with Summerville’s agents

The 24-year-old scored seven goals and assisted five in 34 games for West Ham United last season, but failed to prevent their relegation from the Premier League.
