Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is a fan of Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley and the club are set to assess the feasibility of signing the Danish international, reports from Italy claim.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Gasperini wanted to sign O’Riley from his last club Celtic when the head coach was in charge at Atalanta and now wants to bring the midfielder to the Italian capital.

Roma’s transfer market has thus far been marred by their need to conform to UEFA’s financial fair play restrictions. At the start of July, the Giallorossi were served a fine for failing to fit in line with the regulations but now their market appears to be liberated.

O’Riley only signed for Brighton last summer for a fee of around €30 million but after an injury-marred first season, where the Dane suffered a serious ankle injury just minutes into his debut, he made just 11 starts for the Seagulls in the 2024-25 campaign.
