The recent stellar displays of Mile Svilar further increased the necessity for Roma to reach an agreement on a new contract to fend off his suitors, while the up-and-down going of Artem Dovbyk and Lorenzo Pellegrini, paired up with their costs, is something the decision-makers will have to weigh before the next window, Il Messaggero informs.
The Ukrainian marksman has logged decent numbers but has never been impactful in crunch matches. The management expected a little more given the €35M investment. Though, it’d be hard to recoup most of it.
While Dovbyk might stay at Roma for economic reasons and lack of alternatives, but it’ll hinge on their next coach, the departure of Pellegrini is a lot more possible. Claudio Ranieri has worked his magic on a few different players, but hasn’t been able to revitalize him. He has last scored in early January and has done it only three times in the season, with just two assists. He didn’t want to leave in January, but he might change his mind.
The Giallorossi will also need to assess the desires of Leandro Paredes and Bryan Cristante, who have lost some relevance as well.
They’d be wasting a year of integration and a lot of money if they parted ways with the former. He’s likely to fare much better next year. Instead, the relationship with the latter might have run its course. He’s quite expensive salary-wise if he’s not a pillar and a big contributor, in addition to all the fan-related baggage.
