Roma has several players whose contracts are expiring. Frederic Massara has decided to postpone negotiations regarding the renewals of Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Zeki Celik, and Stephan El Shaarawy until next spring.

The Roman club has asked these players for time.

For the first two, there is a problem related to the cost burden on the club’s budget.

Dybala and Pellegrini cost Roma a figure, including taxes, close to €25 million per year.

However, the club has been clear, writes Il Corriere dello Sport, that discussions will begin with offers almost halved compared to their current salaries.

Lorenzo Pellegrini earns €6 million net annually, €6.5 million with bonuses. This figure was agreed with Tiago Pinto when his contract expired in 2021 and he was delivering excellent performances under José Mourinho.

However, with the Argentine, the deal was ultimately negotiated with a higher salary, and he currently earns €8 million.

Both are willing to accept lower salary levels, but Roma must make the first move. Zeki Celik and Stephan El Shaarawy are more likely to make the move.

The Turk is an important player for Gasperini, and around Trigoria, his contract extension is considered a mere formality, while the Italian-Egyptian is expected to accept a second-tier role and a lower salary.
