Roma aim to make it two league wins under Ivan Juric when they face Venezia in round six of Serie A.

After securing their first win last weekend, Roma hope to make make it two-in-a-row as they welcome Venezia and former manager Eusebio Di Francesco to the Italian capital on Sunday.

Both sides are coming off their first wins of the season as the Giallorossi eased past Udinese while the Lagunari gritted a victory over Genoa.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15.00 CET at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Roma

After suffering a late draw against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday in the Europa League, the hosts shift their focus back to Serie A following last Sunday’s convincing 3-0 victory over the Friulians.

Entering his second league match at the helm, manager Ivan Juric is expected to rotate some of his squad following their midweek fixture. The biggest question mark for Venezia surrounds Paulo Dybala, who came off at half time against the Spaniards.

The Croatian technician could be tempted to preserve La Joya and insert Matias Soule into his starting eleven on Sunday.

[Zeki] Celik and Dybala are fine. They have no injuries or any other problems,” Juric told media members during his pre-match press conference.

“Celik wants to train and Paulo wants to try too – it was just a feeling he had. So there’s no problem there. Our players are working very hard in our recovery techniques. But I think you need 20 players you can switch in and out. And those who don’t play, train.”

“But in the long run, if you play and play and play, you don’t train. So when you have a week to train, you have to do the work on the pitch as that helps you be strong during the game.”

Adding, “You have to be smart, play hard and focus on recovery but you also have to manage the squad and involve as many players as possible in matches.”

“Intensity is another thing. A team like Roma has to play with intensity at all times. You can’t afford to play at 70%. The team has to go full-out at all times if we want to obtain results.”

Venezia

Like the hosts, Venezia snapped their winless streak last round thanks to an impressive 2-0 victory over Genoa.

The Lagunari held off Alberto Gilardino’s men despite several absences plus a penalty miss from Joel Pohjanpalo, who made up for the mistake with a late 85th minute goal to seal the win.

In addition, the match reunites Venezia manager Eusebio Di Francesco with his former employers Roma, whom he managed from 2017 until 2019.

“I think more about Venezia than my past at Roma,” assured the Italian technician .”The team is working in the right way and I expect other answers on the pitch.”

“I am also looking for mental and tactical endurance tomorrow.”

As for the squad, Venezia welcome midfielder Hans Nicolussi Caviglia back from suspension while veteran Alfred Duncan has recovered from injury—though, he’s not expected to start.
