AC Milan are looking to tie Tijjani Reijnders down to a new contract very soon after his fantastic start to the season.
Since joining Milan last summer, Christian Pulisic is probably the only player to have been more consistent in their performances than Reijnders. In this time, the Dutchman’s role has fluctuated, but in recent weeks he has found some welcomed continuity.
Alongside Youssouf Fofana, he is given the licence to be at his best, and freedom to drive forward, whilst also being able to assist attacks from depth – unlocking his full skillset. For this reason, his value has skyrocketed, and the initial €20 million paid seems a bargain.
There is interest in the midfielder, and the club are aware of this. However, both Reijnders and the Diavolo are looking to renew his contract, with all parties happy about their current position.
As Fabrizio Romano stated on his X account, talks with the Dutch midfielder are ‘progressing’, and this is probably aided by the Rossoneri’s stance – they see him as a ‘key part’ of the current project, whilst also wanting to offer him a contract similar to the club’s other stars.
There are no time pressures due to his current deal expiring in 2028, but Milan want an extension sooner rather than later.
