Romelu Lukaku scored as Belgium beat Croatia 2-0 on Tuesday, moving into the top five of all-time international scorers.
The striker came on in the 73rd minute and struck late to seal the result. That finish took him to 90 goals in 125 caps. As reported by L'Équipe, he returned after an injury-disrupted season at Napoli.
The goal moved him past Robert Lewandowski and into fifth on the all-time list.
He remains well behind Cristiano Ronaldo on 143, Lionel Messi on 116 and Ali Daei on 108 with Iran, but is now close to India’s Sunil Chhetri on 95.
Among active European players, only Harry Kane on 78 seems capable of approaching such a total, while Edin Dzeko, 40, should still be able to add slightly to his 73 for Bosnia.
