Santos beat Noroeste 2-1 in Bauru in the seventh round of the 2026 Paulistão, despite a laboured display and a man advantage throughout the second half.
Diario Do Peixe’s player ratings highlighted Rony and Gabriel Bontempo as standouts, with Igor Vinícius and Escobar also influential. The report noted aerial frailty at the back and limited creativity even with the extra player.
Escobar scored from a Miguelito assist. Rony netted his first Santos goal from Igor Vinícius’s pass after a lovely ball by Bontempo.
Zé Ivaldo drew the foul that led to Thiago Lopes being sent off, leaving Noroeste with 10 for the whole second half. Gabriel Barbosa had a finish ruled out for an offside against Rony.
Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão made two fine saves but misjudged one cross and might have done better on Noroeste’s goal. Barreal erred for the concession and later went off injured, while Lautaro Díaz and Rollheiser underwhelmed from the bench.
