Barcelona are closing in on the signing of highly-rated winger Roony Bardghji from FC Copenhagen.

The 19-year-old is out of contract in December and has already informed the Danish club that he will not renew.

Porto had offered the same terms, but Bardghji prefers a move to Spain, and personal terms are expected to be agreed soon.

Barcelona plan to integrate the Sweden under-21 international into Hansi Flick’s pre-season squad, which begins training on July 13.

Despite missing much of this season with a knee injury, Bardghji has remained on the radar of several top clubs thanks to his earlier exploits.

He scored 10 goals across all competitions in 2023, including a Champions League winner against Manchester United, before falling out of favour amid contract tensions.

Barcelona first showed serious interest in Bardghji late last year, alongside Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea.

After he rejected renewal talks and spent time away from the squad, Copenhagen excluded him from the team for much of the season.

Interested clubs cooled their interest following his injury, but Barcelona maintained contact and were reassured by medical reports on his recovery.

Bardghji’s preference for Barcelona played a key role, as he has supported the club since childhood.

His admiration for the club is evident in his past social media posts, and he reportedly views this as a dream move, despite receiving competing offers.

Marseille also showed interest, but medical doubts ended their pursuit.

Porto pushed hard and had reached a verbal agreement with Copenhagen, but were unable to persuade the player.

Barcelona’s deal is expected to be finalised by the end of June, with only formalities remaining.

Bardghji will join fellow summer arrival Joan Garcia, and the club remains confident of completing a separate deal for Nico Williams ahead of the new season.
