FC Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji was the standout performer for Sweden’s U-21 side in their 3-0 win over Armenia in the Euro qualifiers earlier this week.
The 19-year-old starlet, who joined the Catalans this past summer, scored with a Panenka-style penalty after providing the assist for his team’s opening goal.
While Barcelona are still working to register him for the upcoming La Liga match against Valencia, the former Copenhagen forward is gaining valuable minutes with his national youth team.
Speaking to Swedish media, Bardghji explained that he would not have signed for Barcelona just to play with the reserve side, and he also spoke about his strong connection with manager Hansi Flick.
“I won’t go into details, but he’s a great coach and a fantastic person. He knows how to talk to his players. We’ve had a lot of interesting conversations, so I feel good,” the teenage winger said.
The former FC Copenhagen forward knows that patience will be key as he looks to establish himself at his new club.

“[The goal is to] Get a lot of playing time. It’s a long season with a lot of matches in a lot of tournaments, so I’m sure I’ll get a lot of playing time. So it’s just a matter of showing up and, of course, being patient at the beginning,” said Bardghji.
“Not everyone who’s playing now were playing right away; it takes a bit of time. But then I’ll get into the game and show what I can do.”
Bardghji also revealed which player has impressed him most in training at Barcelona, saying:
“I’ve already been asked that question, and I said Pedri. I think you also see it on TV, and when you see it in person, it’s even better.”
Talking about the bond shared by the squad, he added: “It’s a fantastic group. It’s like a family, something I haven’t felt before at other teams.”
Bardghji also spoke about his relationship with Marcus Rashford, who also joined Barcelona this summer, saying:
“At first, there was a lot of interaction with Rashford because we were new. I’d played against him before, and we lived in the same hotel.
“We lived next door to each other in the hotel, so it was natural for us to get close. He’s nice. Very calm and relaxed. He doesn’t talk much.”
