As Wolves end their 2025/26 campaign against Burnley this afternoon, one wholesome moment came to define an otherwise bruising season.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, it began in January when four-year-old fan Rory Smith was filmed looking heartbroken after dad Tom swiped a chicken nugget during the goalless draw with Newcastle United at Molineux. The clip went viral, and Tom was swiftly dubbed the nugget thief.
Wolves moved quickly, inviting Rory back to Molineux and promising his next box would be safe from wandering hands.
During the home defeat to Bournemouth, mascot Wolfie delivered fresh nuggets and a Wolves shirt, while the stadium team joked that Dad must keep his distance.
The feel-good moment drew widespread praise and reflected the family atmosphere the club strives to build.
Then came the twist. After the clip exploded, Aldi UK, which was seeking its first ever official chicken nugget taster, offered Rory a role as a mini nugget tasting expert to help sample its range.
The retailer said his enthusiasm struck a chord nationwide, and Tom quipped there would be more nuggets for Rory and none for him.
In a year short on smiles, his story united supporters and showed Wolves at their best.
