Rotherham United have appointed former Sunderland and Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark to take charge of the first team.
The club said in a statement that Clark has been appointed as first-team manager, with confirmation arriving on Wednesday afternoon ahead of a trip to league leaders Lincoln City.
The Millers sit 22nd in League One, five points behind Blackpool with a game in hand. Tuesday’s 5-0 defeat at Peterborough United led to Matt Hamshaw’s departure earlier on Wednesday.
Clark, 53, brings managerial experience from Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City, Blackpool and Kilmarnock. Most recently, he was in charge of Al-Merrikh in the Sudan Premier League.
Rotherham plan to unveil Clark at a press conference on Thursday. He is due to preview the weekend visit to Lincoln, where he will oversee his first match in charge.
