The south-west England club are 16th, 12 points clear of the relegation places and 12 points adrift of the play-off positions.

Hodgson’s longevity is unrivalled, and he began his managerial career in Sweden in 1976. He was the Premier League’s oldest manager during his 2023-24 spell with Crystal Palace.

His first dugout role in England came at Bristol City. He spent several months as Bob Houghton’s assistant before briefly taking charge in 1982.
