Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, may approach club legend Roy Keane to play a key role during his tenure at Old Trafford.
While he may have only recently arrived at Man United, Amorim has already made some significant decisions that will shape his future as well as that of his team. This includes parting ways with former interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.
What’s more, Amorim will reportedly bring sporting analyst Eduardo Rosalino to United from Sporting, with the Portuguese manager’s former coaching staff set to join him as well.
Despite parting ways with Van Nistelrooy, Amorim seems set to bring another United legend into the fold.
“Ruben Amorim has pledged to dine with club legends such as Sir Alex Ferguson and Roy Keane in a bid to quickly immerse himself in the Manchester United culture,” the Daily Star reported via an X post by Transfer News Live.
According to Caughtoffside, Amorim appreciates Keane’s stature at United and understanding of the club.
“Ruben Amorim believes Roy Keane can help him settle at Man United,” the article claimed, explaining that a meeting with the former United captain would help the new manager to “adapt to the culture of the club.”
Seeking assistance from icons such as Sir Alex and Keane may be a wise decision by Amorim, who will be under immense pressure to find his form in time to turn United’s season around.
Van Nistelrooy enjoyed a successful brief tenure as interim manager, winning three games and drawing one. In fact, fellow United legend Rio Ferdinand expressed concern over Amorim’s decision to let go of the Dutch former striker.
What makes Van Nistelrooy’s performance all the more impressive is how much he shined when compared to former manager Erik ten Hag, under whom United slumped to 14th place in the Premier League after scoring just eight goals in nine matches.
Still, Amorim can find relief in the fact that he may be in for a soft landing as he embarks on his United career.
Following the international break, United are set to travel to strugglers Ipswich Town, after which they will host FK Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League before facing Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
These fixtures will be a key test for Amorim, whose allegedly planned meeting with Sir Alex and Keane could help him to effectively adjust to life at United as he looks to get off to the strongest possible start.
