There’s no denying that PSG star Nuno Mendes is among the very best left-backs in world football. Moreover, it feels like this year, the casual football supporter has received a front row viewing to the player’s special talent.
Mendes was a major part of PSG winning the treble last season, including winning the club’s first UEFA Champions League trophy. Furthermore, he was also part of the Portugal national team that won the UEFA Nations League trophy over Spain, who are the reigning UEFA Euro winners.
As a result, his performances this year has Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim using his fellow Portuguese compatriot as an example for one of his players to take his game to the next level.

According to The Sun, Amorim has urged Patrick Dorgu to study Mendes’ game closely if he wants to “become the best left-back in the world.”
The report adds that Amorim is “obsessed” with helping the 20-year-old unlock his full potential, with Manchester United’s coaching staff even referring to Dorgu as “Mendes 2.0.”
Before the start of the Red Devils’ 2025-26 season, Dorgu spoke with the media about heading into his second season with Manchester United as Amorim looks to take the player to the next level.
“I think I learned a lot,” said Dorgu of last season in August (h/t The Manchester Evening Standard). “It was a difficult and I was thrown into everything, but I feel I dealt with it good. I just try to bring a lot of confidence into this season…
“It’s a new season and everyone did well in pre-season. I’m just trying to play myself into the team more. Just give the fans what they deserve and I think everyone is trying to put United where we need to be.”
