New Red Devils boss eager to promote stronger links between staff at the club
Ruben Amorim has held a meeting involving Manchester United staff at both Old Trafford and Carrington in a bid to foster a greater connection at the club.
It’s been a positive start to his Red Devils tenure so far for the successor to Erik ten Hag, who followed a 1-1 draw at Ipswich in his opening game with back-to-back home wins at Old Trafford against Bodo/Glimt and Everton.
Next he takes United to Arsenal for a high-profile showdown between two old rivals who have both bounced back to form over the last week.
That match is on Wednesday night, with Amorim taking the unusual step on Monday of conducting his pre-match press conference at Old Trafford, rather than the usual venue for media calls at the club’s training centre in Carrington.
Asked why the press conference was being held at the stadium, the Portuguese responded: "We had a meeting with all the staff, trying to connect everybody.
“This facility, the people that are here, are far from Carrington. You’re trying to build a connection, to be closer. Carrington and the stadium together and that was the reason."
Amorim stressed the need for togetherness as he leads United into a new era under part-owners INEOS as the sixth permanent manager hired by the club since the retirement of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2014.

"That is something that you cannot buy, the pedigree and the size of the club,” he said. “This is something we have to use. It’s a key point for us. Also improving the youth teams, creating a connection between everybody to put this club in the place it needs to be."
One of the standout stars of Amorim’s early United reign so far is Noussair Mazraoui, the summer signing from Bayern Munich - primarily a full-back - demonstrating his valuable versatility by performing impressively as part of the new manager’s preferred three-man defence.
Amorim heaped praise on the Moroccan international ahead of the trip to Arsenal, describing him as “the future” of his United side.
"In training I don’t see him a lot but in games he’s a top player, because he understands the game,” he said of Mazraoui.
“He knows how to attack, he’s very technical, he’s very good defensively and he’s very good one on one. He’s a modern player. I think he’s the future of our team.
“When you think about him you think like we need more players like Nous that can control the tempo, they are really, really good and comfortable with the ball. They understand the game, so Nous I’m really happy with him.”
