Ruben Amorim says he will choose his moment to reinstate Marcus Rashford ahead of tomorrow evening’s final Europa League group stage game against Romanian side FCSB.

Leny Yoro joined the head coach for the pre-match press conference, with Yoro’s remarks being covered in a separate article by The Peoples Person.

Amorim was asked again about Marcus Rashford’s exclusion from the squad once more for tomorrow’s match and his comments in a previous presser that he would play his 43-year-old goalkeeping coach before Rashford.

“The situation is the same for every player,” he said.

“My sentence was that I wouldn’t put any player that doesn’t give the maximum. I didn’t say only Marcus Rashford. We are a better team with him, that’s clear, but until the right moment I won’t change my mind.

“If Rashford will change we are more than happy to have Rashford. But we have to set standards. It’s not personal,” he added.

“Our team, you can look at our team and imagine the profile of the players.

“Imagine a talent like Rashford, our team should be so much better, but he has to change. If he changes, we are more than welcome to use a talent like Rashford, and we need it. But in this moment I think it’s really clear that we have to set some standards.

“So we are waiting for Marcus, if he wants it really, really bad. So that’s the only thing.

“You try to make it something personal. It’s not personal. I have nothing against Marcus. I just have to make the same rules for everybody.

Asked if it was disappointing for him that he couldn’t count on Rashford currently, Amorim replied:

“We need goals. We need one against one. We need threat in the final third. What more do you need?”

Rashford was filmed training with the first team squad this week but was not selected to travel to Bucharest.

There have been reports that the pair are not on speaking terms after Rashford telling a journalist he wanted a new challenge elsewhere.

However, with the winter transfer window closing in four days’ time and no solid offers for the England man on the table, they might be forced to sort out their differences if the player is to see any more action this season.
