Ruben Amorim aimed a dig at the media after his Manchester United side’s win over rivals Liverpool.
Harry Maguire headed in late on to give the Red Devils a 2-1 win, after Bryan Mbeumo had opened the scoring early on before Cody Gakpo equalised.
It marks the first time Amorim has won two games in a row in the Premier League since taking over at the club.
The Portuguese boss has long been under pressure but after his side’s victory, United’s first at Anfield in the Premier League since 2016, Amorim told the media they should “continue with the narrative” of the pressure being on him.
“I want you guys to continue with the narrative that you are,” he said.
“Don’t change that. That is best for me.
“I will not now increase the goal, or whatever. No. You continue now with the same narrative.
“What we need to do is try to win three games in a row and then forget about the top four, top six. We already said that we need to qualify for Europe.
“But this doesn’t change anything. We are the same team that we were 90 minutes ago.
“The way people see the team is different but we are the same team.
“We have a lot to do. We had some luck in a few moments. We had amazing spirit and we need to take all of that to the next game so it’s always the same.”
Amorim also lauded the United fans for the support they have shown him amid the pressure on him and the struggles his side have endured.
“I think it’s not normal,” he said.
“I think it’s hard to find something like this. So many bad moments, and to have the fans always supporting the manager when everyone of you is saying until Christmas, he’s gone, so that is not normal.
“I’m so lucky to have the fans but let’s focus on the next one.”
