Manchester City centre-back Rúben Dias has put pen to paper on a new deal, keeping him at the Etihad until 2029, with the option to stretch it by another year.
The Portugal international, now 28, was already tied down until 2027, but City have moved to secure his future even further.
Since arriving from Benfica in 2020, Dias has been a rock at the back and played a huge part in City’s success, collecting four Premier League titles, a Champions League medal, as well as both domestic cups along the way.
Speaking to the club's media team, Dias said: “I’m very happy with all of it. I think mostly with the opportunity to play four or five more years at this level of this kind of ambition.
“Obviously, I’ve been here five years now and the Premier League was always the target. The Premier League was always the one I was watching when I was a kid.
“The Premier League was where I set the standard of being top or not [and I’m proud] to have the opportunity of extending and fighting for nine or 10 years in this Club at this level.
“I’ve obviously won many things since I came and hopefully I’ll win more, but just the achievement of playing at this level for nine or 10 years, just by itself, is one I will be very proud of.”
