Rui Borges focuses on Porto after José Mourinho raises virtual league debate | OneFootball

Rui Borges downplayed José Mourinho’s talk of a real and a virtual league, saying the real standings are what matter and that his focus is on Porto and a different competition.

According to Glorioso 1904, Mourinho made the remarks in the build-up to Benfica’s match with Gil Vicente, suggesting refereeing errors were influencing Benfica’s results in Liga Portugal Betclic.

Asked about those comments, Rui Borges said he would not discuss them. He added that tomorrow is another competition, with the goal to reach the final and defend a title his team currently holds.

A few hours later, Benfica set out its interpretation on the club’s television channel, stating that Sporting had been helped by six points and Porto by two, while Benfica had been harmed by six.

Gil Vicente v Benfica is scheduled for Monday, 2 March, at Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, and will close matchday 24 of Liga Portugal Betclic. Kick-off is at 20:15, with João Gonçalves to referee.
