Benfica’s pre-season is close, and Rui Costa and the hierarchy are already planning for 2026/2027. Marco Silva will be provided with reinforcements, prioritising undisputed quality and players ready to start immediately.

O JOGO reports that the plan could help the club return to trophies. Areas identified include centre-back, with two additions, plus the left side of attack and centre-forward.

Despite training beginning on 25 June, the policy is to sign pre-defined targets rather than buy in haste. The club will proceed patiently, making selective and well-judged additions.

Retaining much of the current squad is also being prioritised by Rui Costa and Marco Silva. Continuity, alongside signings judged to have immediate impact, is viewed as key to next season’s objectives.

Last Thursday’s press conference indicated that not every Benfica player is available to depart in this summer window. The idea of a squad-wide clear-out was dismissed.
