Rui Costa has taken a firm stance with Gianluca Prestianni, leaving the Benfica winger facing a clear choice, renew or depart, as Trabzonspor of Türkiye monitor the situation.

The Argentine’s representatives travelled to Lisbon not only to discuss a possible transfer but also to try to unlock a contract update. Record writes that his agents urged the board to upgrade his pay in line with his status.

Benfica refused to open talks on a rise, maintaining that Prestianni’s salary fits the squad’s structure and that this is not the right moment for a review.

That stance disappointed the player’s camp after his progress since arriving in January 2024, with no revision agreed despite a growing role. Even so, he continues to prioritise staying at Benfica despite outside interest.

Trabzonspor remain keen and have offered the player a salary well above his current terms, making a move financially tempting. Their formal proposal to Benfica, however, came in below €20 million and failed to convince the board led by Rui Costa.
