Rulani Mokwena's MC Alger have been knocked out of the Coupe d'Algerie by Sead Ramovic's CR Belouizdad in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
Mohamed Ali Ben Hammouda gave CRB the lead in the 17th minute, before Ayoub Ghezala leveled matters from the spot in the half-hour mark.
Naoufel Khacef restored the lead for Ramovic's men two minutes into the second half, but Mohamed Bangoura forced the Algiers derby into extra time with a goal in the 90th minute.
It was Youcef Amine Laouafi who scored the crucial goal in the 100th minute, ensuring Belouizdad secured passage to the semi-finals after a thrilling 3-2 victory.
Mokwena's charges are now winless in their last four matches across all competitions, with pressure starting to pile on the South African tactician.
The former Wydad Athletic Club and Mamelodi Sundowns boss was tasked with retaining the league title, winning domestic cup competitions and reaching a step further in the CAF Champions League after the club's quarterfinal exit last season.
MCA will now shift their focus to the Algerian Ligue 1, where they are set to tackle ES Mostaganem on Saturday, 07 March.
