Mo Salah will be the hottest free agent going this summer. Rules will be broken in order to get him signed.
No one is particularly sure where Mo Salah is going to end up after this season. All we really know is that he won't be at Liverpool.
But will it be the Saudi Pro League? MLS? Maybe another European side? Surely not another Premier League side?
The SPL certainly feels like the most likely destination. They've got serious money and have wanted Salah for a long, long time - now's their chance.
Though, a move for the Egyptian does actually go against their current plans. The SPL wants to build themselves up, rather than relying on older superstars and Salah is very much of the latter description.
But journalist Ismael Mahmoud reports that he is very much a primary target for the SPL despite their current direction. Such is the star of Salah, it seems.
A move to Saudi Arabia really does look like it's going to happen, then. Nearly every club in the world will try to convince Salah otherwise - but sometimes, the money just talks.
Departure Announcement and Anfield Legacy
Mohamed Salah has officially confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025–2026 season. On March 24, 2026, the 33-year-old announced this campaign as his farewell, ending a legendary nine-year tenure at Anfield. Despite his contract running until 2027, the club agreed to a mutual termination this summer as a sign of respect for his historic contributions. This decision follows a season where his typical elite output has dipped, recording 5 goals and 6 assists in 22 league appearances by late March. A reported cooling of his relationship with manager Arne Slot likely accelerated this "no-fault divorce."
Future Destinations and Market Interest
Speculation regarding Salah's next move is centred on the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer. Al-Ittihad remains the frontrunner, reportedly preparing a massive two-year contract offer to secure him as a marquee signing. While Saudi Arabia is the most probable destination, San Diego FC in MLS and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring his situation. For now, Salah remains focused on finishing his Liverpool career on a high, with the team still competing in the Champions League quarter-finals.
