Borussia Dortmund boss Nuri Sahin has explained that he intends to keep Donyell Malen in the first team regardless of Aston Villa’s increased interest.
Although Malen has given the green light to the transfer, Aston Villa are yet to agree to Dortmund’s asking price of €30m (£25m).
As the negotiations continue, Sahin spoke of the Dutchman’s role in the first team and an insistence to play the former PSV man at home against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday amidst the speculation. In his Wednesday press conference, the Dortmund boss explained:
“Donny is part of the match selection and is also an option for the starting line-up. I see that he is very focused. If that were not the case, I would also find that remarkable.”
So far this season, Malen has scored three goals in 13 Bundesliga matches, while outings in Europe have seen two goals and one assist.
