Saliba’s hamstring concern adds to Arsenal’s defensive woes

As Arsenal approach the final stretch of the 2024–25 season, the squad face several injury concerns that could impact their performance in crucial matches.
During Arsenal’s recent 1-0 victory over Newcastle, defender William Saliba was substituted at halftime due to a hamstring concern. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that Saliba “felt something in his hamstring,” and further assessments are underway to determine the severity of the injury.
Kai Havertz, who has been sidelined since February with a hamstring injury, is making significant progress in his recovery. Arteta praised Havertz’s dedication, noting a transformation in his physical condition. The midfielder has been participating in training sessions and could feature in upcoming matches, pending medical clearance.

Defender Gabriel Magalhães underwent hamstring surgery in April and is ruled out for the remainder of the season. Arsenal aims to have him fit for the start of the next campaign.
Jurrien Timber will undergo a minor ankle procedure after playing through discomfort in recent months. While no specific return date is set, the club is optimistic about his availability for pre-season preparations.
Gabriel Jesus continues his recovery from an ACL injury sustained in January and is not expected to return this season. Similarly, Takehiro Tomiyasu, who had knee surgery in February, is targeting a return in the autumn.
