Salih Özcan recalled by Borussia Dortmund from his loan at Wolfsburg | OneFootball

Sky Germany and Bild report that Borussia Dortmund have recalled midfielder Salih Özcan from his loan at Wolfsburg following a ligament injury to Felix Nmecha.

Özcan had been on loan at Wolfsburg, but due to Nmecha’s injury, Dortmund were lacking in midfield numbers. The 27-year-old could return to the Dortmund squad for their game against Heidenheim on Saturday. Özcan has only made 12 appearances for Wolfsburg since joining the club in the summer.

This is Dortmund’s solution for the midfield position as they did not plan to bring in a midfielder in the winter transfer window, reports Bild. Instead, with only a week left in the window, a winger and a defender are expected to be added to the Dortmund squad.

Dortmund are also looking for their replacement head coach for Nuri Şahin. Niko Kovac is the current favourite, however, die Schwarzgelben prefers a stop-gap solution for the remainder of the season while Kovac wants the option to extend.
