Matildas captain, Sam Kerr, will marry partner and fellow professional football player, Kristie Mewis, in a New Year’s Eve ceremony in Perth.

In a recent episode of podcast, The Women’s Game, hosted by sister and former US teammate Sam, Mewis detailed her and Kerr’s wedding plans, saying the couple would wed at a ceremony at a private home in front of 120 people.

And on Tuesday, Mewis shared a post on Instagram with what appeared to be a sneak peek at a wedding outfit, with the caption “Tomorrow 🥹❤️”.

The 34-year-old US international, who has played as a midfielder in the Women’s Super League for West Ham, said she and the Chelsea striker would write their own vows for the 31 December ceremony.

“The ceremony doesn’t start until later because it’s a New Year’s Eve,” she said. “We kind of shifted everything later because we want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with everybody.”

Mewis answered questions from listeners about her relationship with Kerr, with whom she has been engaged for two-and-a-half years. Asked when she knew Kerr was “the one”, Mewis turned to ask the Matildas star when she knew.

“The day I met you,” said Kerr, off camera.

Mewis said: “It is easy for us to say that now, but I think we both did know when we met each other.”

“It was just like nothing that either of us had ever felt before.”

Kerr and Mewis began dating in 2020 and announced the birth of their son Jagger Mewis-Kerr in May this year, following their engagement in late 2023. Kerr confirmed their relationship in an Instagram post in August 2021 following rumours sparked when the US played Australia in the Tokyo Olympics.

Mewis said she and Kerr would not go on a honeymoon immediately after the wedding due to the Australian’s playing fixtures.

“But we are talking about going to the men’s World Cup, which I know isn’t very, like, honeymoonish,” she said.

In the post shared to Instagram on Tuesday, Mewis shared a series of pictures of herself in a white dress alongside Kerr, their son, and friends including former US teammate Stephanie McCaffrey.
