Australian is one goal away from becoming club’s all-time top goalscorer
Sam Kerr will leave Chelsea as a free agent when her contract expires this summer, the club have confirmed.
The prolific Australian striker will depart as a legend after a superb six-and-a-half-year stint in west London, during which she scored 115 goals in 157 appearances.
She was the driving force behind a period of domestic dominance for the Blues. Her overflowing trophy cabinet features five WSL titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups and one Community Shield, as well as a pair of WSL Golden Boots.
The 32-year-old missed much of this campaign as she recovered from an ACL rupture which kept her sidelined for nearly two years, playing a bit-part role in Sonia Bompastor’s side after making her comeback.

Saturday’s home WSL clash with Manchester United will be her final match for the club. She has garnered interest from sides in the NWSL, but her next move is yet to be confirmed.
“When I reflect on my Chelsea career and doing it for the last time [against Manchester United this Saturday], I just feel happy,” Kerr told the club’s website upon announcing her move. “Happy that it happened, and I feel so grateful to have played for this club for six years and won as many trophies as we could.”
Kerr’s 115-goal tally is one shy of Chelsea’s all-time top goalscorer, Fran Kirby, who she could surpass with a brace on Saturday.
She is not the first stalwart to leave the club this season, with Millie Bright announcing her surprise retirement last month.
