Sambou Soumano set for Lorient exit amid Derby County and Charlton Athletic interest | OneFootball

Sambou Soumano (25) is set to depart FC Lorient upon the expiry of his contract, as per a report from Foot Mercato. A move to England is on the cards for the Senegalese forward. 

Soumano, who came through at Lorient, has had multiple loan spells but was a regular first-team player for the Breton club last season. He played 31 times in Ligue 1, scoring four times and registering two assists. However, his contract with the club has come to an end, and instead of renewing, he is set to depart on a free transfer. 

His Senegalese counterpart and fellow Lorient striker, Bamba Dieng, is set to do the same. It is a blow for Les Merlus after a positive season. 

As per Foot Mercato, there is interest from France and Turkey, but the most concrete interest comes from England. Derby County and Charlton Athletic both hold a concrete interest in the player.
