Spanish forward Samu has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee and will not play again in 2025/26. According to O Jogo, the serious setback followed a right-knee sprain.
He has scored 20 goals and made one assist in 32 appearances this season, leaving him within sight of last term’s total.
Last season he produced 27 goals and three assists in 45 games.
He also featured for Spain four times, in November 2024, June 2025, October and November, without scoring.
The lay-off ends his push to surpass last season’s mark and, more significantly, ends his 2026 World Cup dream.
