Santiago Ascacibar sidelined with hamstring strain, out of Boca’s clash with Instituto | OneFootball

Boca have been dealt a setback, with Santiago Ascacibar diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and ruled out of Sunday’s home match against Instituto. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the midfielder faces several weeks of recovery.

A key figure for Claudio Úbeda’s side, Ascacibar’s absence forces at least one change at La Bombonera on matchday 12 of the Torneo Apertura.

The timing softens the blow, with an international break following the Instituto game. Boca are due back the weekend of Sunday five April against Talleres, and the former Estudiantes man is aiming to be fit by then. If he falls short, his return would come against Independiente.

Looking at the Unión match in which he was injured five minutes into the second half, the likely replacement could be Spaniard Ander Herrera. Claudio Úbeda turned to him when Ascacibar requested the change.

Herrera could line up alongside Leandro Paredes, joining Milton Delgado and Tomás Aranda in midfield. The coach is minded not to alter much of his XI, so this might be the only switch.
