Santos name 21-man squad for UCV play-off, Moisés back, Neymar among absentees | OneFootball

Santos have named their squad for the Copa Sudamericana play-off first leg away to UCV of Venezuela on Tuesday 21 at 21:30, at Estadio Misael Delgado in Valencia, and are not likely to be at full strength.

The club said in a statement that, with a congested schedule in the coming weeks, it has set out a rotation plan to preserve players and reduce the risk of long-term injuries through to the end of the season.

Absentees include Igor Vinicius, treating tendinitis, Willian Arão after a rib knock, João Schmidt, in the final stages of physical transition after right thigh discomfort, Gustavo Henrique and Pepe Fermino with right hamstring injuries, Neymar, who returned on Friday and continues his programme, Gabriel Barbosa with adductor myalgia, and Gustavo Caballero, who is awaiting his contract to return to the BID.

The main change is the return of forward Moisés, now recovered from a sprain to his right ankle.

Santos have called 21 players in total, made up of three goalkeepers, four centre-backs, three full-backs, six midfielders and five forwards.
