Santos ‘tried to hijack’ Cruzeiro move for Gerson | OneFootball

According to Itatiaia, Neymar Pai contacted Marcão, Gerson’s agent, proposing a loan deal with Santos covering 100% of his wages. The midfielder declined, preferring Cruzeiro.

Despite Zenit’s hard stance, Cruzeiro are advancing talks for the player. After an initial offer was rejected, the Minas Gerais club returned with improved terms closer to the asking price.

The proposal totals 27 million euros, made up of 25 million fixed and a further two million in bonuses linked to targets.

Gerson left Flamengo for Zenit in July 2025. In under six months he featured in 15 games and scored two goals, and is now open to a return to Brazilian football.

Before the end of the 2025 season, Gerson’s father approached Flamengo’s sporting director José Boto to offer the midfielder back. Boto gave no response and did not pass the approach to head coach Filipe Luís or president Luiz Eduardo Baptista.
