São Paulo beat Grêmio 2-0 in São Paulo on Wednesday to climb to the top of the Brasileirão, rising from fifth to first.

In the 24th minute Lucas Moura converted from the spot after Danielzinho was fouled by Weverton.

Wagner Leonardo received a second yellow and was sent off (47.), tilting the game towards Tricolor Paulista.

Jonathan Calleri then struck the second (59.), sweeping in from Luciano's pass on a fast break.

Weverton kept Tricolor Gaúcho alive by saving Luciano's penalty (64.).

Gonzalo Tapia later hit the post for Tricolor Paulista, while José Enamorado drew a sharp save from Rafael as the visitors searched for a response.

Tricolor Paulista registered 18 attempts and 57.6% possession. Tricolor Gaúcho managed five attempts.
