São Paulo court suspends Corinthians vote on statute reform | OneFootball

The São Paulo Court of Justice has suspended Corinthians’ General Assembly, set for 20 June to vote on a statute reform. According to Meu Timao, appellate judge Mauricio Campos da Silva Velho issued an urgent order halting the meeting.

He granted tutela de urgência in an Agravo de Instrumento filed by lifetime councillors Ademir de Carvalho Benedito, Alexandre Husni and Guilherme Gonçalves Strenger, who challenge the legality of the process.

The ruling points to signs of procedural breaches of the club’s own Estatuto Social, highlighting possible issues under article 97, item M, which assigns the Conselho de Orientação, Cori, the power to propose statutory changes to the Conselho Deliberativo, CD.

Days earlier, Judge Rafael Viotti Schlobach, of the 3ª Vara Cível do Foro Regional do Tatuapé, had rejected an injunction from the same group. In the appeal, the authors argue the first instance confused the CD’s November 2025 recognition of the need for reform with approval of an actual text, which they say never existed.

They contend no draft or base text was formally presented at that time. They add that Cori did not approve the later anteproject, that the base text was rejected by Cori and then voted down by the CD on 29 April, yet the proposal still advanced to a members’ vote.

The appellate judge noted the analysis must consider the autonomy of sporting entities under article 217 of the Federal Constitution, and found grounds to freeze the Assembly pending fuller review. The court ordered immediate notice to the lower court, and the opposing party will be summoned to respond. The 20 June Assembly remains suspended until a new judicial decision.
