São Paulo police investigate alleged rape of child at Palmeiras social club | OneFootball

São Paulo Civil Police have opened an investigation into the alleged rape of a four-year-old at Palmeiras’ social club in the west of the city.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, when the child’s mother gave a statement at the fourth Women’s Defence Police Station and Military Police were called. The club said in a statement that president Leila Pereira ordered the immediate suspension of the member under suspicion, adding it had handed over CCTV and was assisting officers.

The child was examined at the Instituto Médico Legal. It is alleged the assault happened in a men’s bathroom after the child was lured with popcorn.

Questioned in private, the child initially called the matter a secret, then later stated that their grandfather had touched them.

The suspect has not been named. The inquiry is ongoing.
