São Paulo have tied Marcos Antônio to a contract through 2030, effectively shielding the midfielder and making a Flamengo move unlikely after their renewed push in early 2026.

According to UOL, São Paulo consider him non-negotiable and would only sell for his release clause, set at R$ 900 million for Brazilian clubs and €100 million, R$ 613 million, for overseas sides.

Following the January 2026 signing of Lucas Paquetá, Flamengo tabled €7.5 million, R$ 46.5 million at current rates, plus Allan, but São Paulo turned it down.

Flamengo’s interest dates back to 2024, when Marcos Antônio was at Lazio. Talks failed to progress and he joined São Paulo on loan.

Performance targets then obliged São Paulo to buy him for €4.2 million, R$ 26 million, making the move permanent.

Flamengo now focus on their next assignment in 2026, hosting Coritiba at 16:00 Brasília time on Saturday 30 at the Maracanã in the 18th round of the Brasileirão.
