São Paulo ended a run of four consecutive defeats in the season last Thursday, by beating Fortaleza 2-0 at Arena Castelão, in the 26th round of the Brasileirão. Thus, Tricolor got some breathing room to keep fighting for a spot in the tournament's G6. The team led by Hernán Crespo is in seventh place, with 38 points, two behind Bahia, who currently hold the last qualifying spot for the Libertadores.

On the other side, Palmeiras defeated Vasco 3-0 and avoided a losing streak after their loss to Bahia. Verdão is having a good moment in the season and continues to chase the leader. The win over the Rio rival left Abel Ferreira's team with 52 points in second place, three points behind Flamengo, who are at the top of the table.
