While managers will no doubt tell you that transfer windows go on too long as it is, but the fact that some windows stay open after others mean that some countries find themselves at an advantage. That is the case for Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, who have plenty of time to move for players after the dust has settled in the major European leagues.
In this case, it is Rayo Vallecano who are feeling the disadvantage, with key midfielder Pathe Ciss looking like he is on his way out of the club. The 31-year-old has been both a loyal and effective servant to Rayo, but now is keen on a move to Saudi Arabia.
According to Footmercato, Saudi side Al-Shabab have agreed terms with Ciss. He is keen on what would no doubt be a major wage rise in the MIddle East, and Rayo look powerless to do much about it. Ciss has a contract until 2027, but a release clause of just €10m, a relative snip in the Saudi market. Al-Shabab have until the 11th of September to activate it.

Ciss was close to leaving for Olympique Lyon 18 months ago, falling out with President Raul Martin Presa as a result, calling him selfish, irresponsible and disrespectful. He has been a key option under Andoni Iraola and now Inigo Perez, at times playing in defence.
With European football at Vallecas this season, one of the key concerns has been depth, and a departure for Ciss would place further strain on their resources. Currently Perez has Gerard Gumbau, Unai Lopez, Oscar Valentin and Pedro Diaz who can play in deeper midfield, although Diaz has been preferred as a number 10 of late.
