Saudi Pro League clubs retain interest in experienced Manchester United star

Casemiro remains a Manchester United player despite being the subject of speculation this summer.

The Brazilian is one of several players who could be offloaded by United this summer to raise funds for new signings.

After enjoying an impressive debut season as a key member of Erik ten Hag’s squad, Casemiro’s impact faded in the team last term.

Casemiro regressed to such an alarming rate that he lost his place in the team to Sofyan Amrabat for the FA Cup final win over Man City.

According to Sky Sports, Saudi Pro League clubs retain ‘strong interest’ in Casemiro.

United are planning to beef up their midfield options this summer, amid links to Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan isn’t the only midfielder linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Reports elsewhere suggest United are considering a swoop for Wolves star Joao Gomes, who will be trying to cement a place in the Brazil national team after Casemiro was dropped from their Copa America squad.

The Reds have scouted Gomes but they’re yet to start negotiations over a deal for the talented midfielder, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano told GiveMeSport that Gomes is being eyed by several clubs this summer, with United among those following his situation closely.

The respected journalist said: “He’s one of many players being scouted, but not just by Manchester United. Many clubs have been scouting and following him, so let’s see who is going to really present a proposal or try to open negotiations with Wolves. At the moment, there is still nothing imminent.”

This will come as fantastic news for Wolves fans, who will be hoping to keep their star players ahead of the new season.

Gomes joined Wolves 18 months ago from Flamengo and impressed in his first full season under Gary O’Neill.
