Saudi Pro League explains 2026-27 Roshn League schedule amid unprecedented congestion | OneFootball

The Saudi Pro League has detailed the mechanism behind its 2026-27 Roshn League fixture list, setting out principles ahead of the schedule’s publication during an unprecedentedly crowded season.

According to Goal.com, the campaign runs from 13 August 2026 to 29 May 2027. Organisers faced an exceptional squeeze as eight Saudi clubs enter four external tournaments alongside international breaks, Saudi national team dates and the Kingdom’s staging of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

Around 80 days are lost to international windows and national-team fixtures. The Asian Cup requires more than 44 days, not including stadium handovers. With 59 days for domestic and continental tournaments plus 43 days of rest, only 102 days remain to stage 306 matches across 34 rounds.

To protect competitive balance, no side plays more than two consecutive home or away matches. Each club gets one home and one away game across both the opening two rounds and the final two, and at least two days’ rest between successive matches in any competition.

Clubs were consulted in a workshop with representatives from every club, explaining the methodology and calendar, then invited to submit requests and observations on sequence and dates before sign-off.

Teams were grouped into four tiers using results from the past three seasons, with the latest weighted most, to avoid back-to-back meetings with first-tier opponents and spread marquee fixtures. Stadium readiness and availability were among the most influential considerations, alongside external participations and international commitments.
