Habib Diallo, under contract with Al Shabab until 2026, is seeking to terminate his agreement with the Saudi club. The Senegal international, struggling to adapt, is eager to find a more favorable environment.

Habib Diallo has faced a challenging period since joining the Saudi Pro League in August 2023. Signed from Strasbourg for €18 million, his stint in the Saudi Pro League has been anything but smooth. The former Senegalese goal-getter, who had left France after a stellar season with 20 goals in Ligue 1, has yet to rediscover his clinical form under the Arabian sun. He tallied 33 appearances and 6 goals with Al Shabab (2023/24 campaign) before being loaned to Damac last season, where he played 28 matches, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists.

Habib Diallo eyeing a return to Ligue 1 in France?

After two seasons in Saudi Arabia, the 30-year-old is now openly expressing his desire to leave Al Shabab. Although his contract runs until June 2025, talks are reportedly already underway for an amicable split, according to Footmercato on Monday, August 11, 2025. The Saudi club, currently undergoing restructuring, would not oppose the Senegalese striker’s departure, provided a financial deal can be reached. This scenario could allow Diallo to become a free agent, giving him the freedom to choose his next club without contractual restrictions.

On that note, the Senegal international is said to be considering a return to Ligue 1. Several French clubs are monitoring his situation, eager to recruit a player already proven in the league and capable of making an immediate attacking impact.
