I wasn’t standing at the door of the Pink Flamingo, I was at the bar of the Fat Ox in Whitley Bay after my little mate’s funeral, someone who was a massive Newcastle United fan.

Everyone raised a glass to our fallen friend John Gibson.

Davy Flan, Plumber, Dag, Linda, Mo, Big Ian, Gary, the two Cliffords, Amanda and a whole host of other saddened folk were decked in black and white.

Ben and his Ma pulled the many pints and shorts, decked out in Gippa’s favourite colours too.

I bloody hope we win something this season.

Since it began, my Ma, Big Richie Smith, Jeff Sharp and Gippa have passed.

Come on Newcastle United, go flat out to win the League or FA Cup in honour of these great people and the rest of the recently departed.

This is my shortest article ever and I am now craving silverware more than at any time in the past.
