Schalke have lodged an inquiry for Brighton playmaker Facundo Buonanotte, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The newly promoted Bundesliga side are understood to have signalled concrete interest in the Argentinian. The report adds he is on the verge of leaving Brighton again, with clubs in Italy and England also keen.

A proposed loan to Chelsea collapsed in the first half of last season, then a six-month spell at Leeds United underwhelmed.
The 21-year-old, compared by some to Adil Aouchiche, could revive his career at Schalke after earlier flashes at Rosario Central and Brighton.
A permanent transfer may be difficult, as his Brighton contract runs until 2028, though alternative structures could make an agreement possible.
