Sky Germany reports that the move of Schalke striker Moussa Sylla to MLS side New York City FC is on the verge of collapsing. 

The move was nearly finalised with a fee of €7m agreed, as well as the 26-year-old flying to America to complete his medical. However, the MLS side now wants to renegotiate the terms of the deal, which has put it in jeopardy.

This can have a knock-on effect on Schalke’s transfer plans, as they cannot sign a replacement until Sylla is sold. 

The 26-year-old has struggled this season and only has four goals and two assists in 17 2.Bundesliga games. 

Schalke’s alternative:

Luckily, for Miron Muslic’s side, they completed the signing of Edin Dzeko from Fiorentina earlier in the window. 

The Bosnian scored on his debut for die Königsblau against Kaiserslautern, but still needs to get up to speed as he has recently been out with an injury. Add to this, he turns 40 this year.
