Schjelderup still silent on Benfica renewal, Rui Costa unconcerned | OneFootball

Andreas Schjelderup has yet to respond to Benfica’s contract renewal offer, a stance that is not troubling Rui Costa.

Record reports that the player is in no hurry and Benfica see no reason for alarm, pointing to a release clause of 100 million euros and the fact he is not nearing the end of his deal. He could still leave in this transfer window.

The Norwegian winger’s case differs from António Silva. The centre-back received a renewal offer with a year left on his deal, did not accept, and will move to Bournemouth, though he will bid farewell only after the game against St. Gallen.

Schjelderup’s future remains open. Already working at Seixal, the 22-year-old is attracting strong interest after an impressive second half of the season for Benfica and his displays for Norway at the World Cup.

Valued at 40 million euros, Schjelderup made 43 appearances in 2025/26 for Benfica, 28 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Liga dos Campeões, four in the Taça de Portugal and one in the Taça da Liga. Across 2,548 minutes he registered 10 goals and seven assists.
