Scotland marked their first men’s World Cup match in 28 years with a win and a nod to Leeds United icon Billy Bremner.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the national team shared a social video revealing an away shirt, matching Saturday’s kit, with Bremner’s motto, 'side before self, every time', hidden inside.
The phrase, cherished by the midfielder who captained Leeds through the 1960s and 1970s, is a staple for Whites supporters and is inscribed on his statue at Elland Road. One supporter called the new strip a must-have for a Leeds United legend.
On the pitch, John McGinn’s deflected strike after 28 minutes secured a 1-0 win over Haiti in Boston, Scotland’s first victory at the finals since a 2-1 defeat of Sweden at Italia 90.
Morocco and Brazil drew 1-1 in New Jersey earlier, leaving Scotland top of the group with three points before facing the AFCON champions at the same venue next Friday. They then head to Miami to meet Brazil on June 24, aiming to reach the knockout rounds for the first time.
